A founding member of Bon Jovi named Alec John Such passed away yesterday at the age of 70. On Sunday, the band announced the information via Twitter:
“We were shocked to learn of our close buddy Alec John Such’s passing. He was unique in every way. As a key figure in the formation of Bon Jovi, Alec was a founding member.
His cause of death is still unknown. Along with pictures and videos from his time with his bandmates, singer Jon Bon Jovi and keyboardist David Bryan, Bon Jovi posted a video of a live rendition of their song Blood On Blood.
Alec The Message and Sambora both have John Such as founding members. John Such was born on November 14, 1951. In the early 1980s, he served as the Hunka Bunka Ballroom’s manager in Sayreville, New Jersey.
While Bon Jovi hired David Bryan, a friend from their youth and former member of the Atlantic City Expressway, he recruited Torres and Sambora. John Such stated in an interview with a news program in 2000,
“My record company used to fabricate my age. I joined at the age of 31 when I was. I was at least ten years older than the other band members. Finally, my sister lost her cool since the media kept referring to her as my older sister even though she was younger.
When John Such left the band in 1994, Hugh McDonald took over as bassist. He claimed that he had burnout at the age of 43. He said he did not want to work, so he started a band.
Runaway, the band’s first single, and its first two albums were all released in 1984 and 1985, respectively. They found success after the release of their third album, Slippery When Wet, in 1986. The band has released 16 studio albums, 5 compilations, and 3 live albums since then, with over 130 million copies sold globally.
